Situated in the peaceful village of Thornthwaite, close to Keswick in the Northern Lake District, Jenkin Hill Cottage offers a warm, friendly welcome and very comfortable guest house holiday accommodation, exclusively for non-smokers.
Thornthwaite Village rests between Thornthwaite Forest and Bassenthwaite
Lake. This is a quiet village just 3 miles from the centre of Keswick, an
excellent base for visiting the North Lakes, and only a half hour's drive
from South Lakeland or the Cumbrian coast, or an hour away from Carlisle
and Hadrian's Wall. This is a very popular area for ornithologists, with
a wide variety of bird life, a hide for viewing water fowl beside Bassenthwaite
Lake and the added bonus of Ospreys nesting just a short distance away.

Jenkin Hill Cottage was originally built to accommodate the gardener
for the nearby Manor House. The cottage has been enlarged, updated
and upgraded to provide high quality guest accommodation in a very
peaceful garden location. With well appointed bedrooms, good hearty breakfasts
and delicious evening meals in a relaxed, informal atmosphere, a stay here
can provide the basis of a really excellent holiday. In addition we
are able to cater for most special diets, including gluten
free.
There is a large car park and well stocked gardens for guests to enjoy, with a wide variety of plants, shrubs and trees. The gardens were awarded a Commended certificate in the Keswick-in-Bloom, 2007 competition. View a video clip of plants in our garden.
Jenkin Hill Cottage is inspected each year by VisitBritain and has a Four Star grading with a Silver Award.
