Dining Room

The meals served in our dining room, whether the Cumbrian breakfast or the four course evening meal are prepared using the best of free-range local produce whenever possible. For example, meat, Cumberland sausage and dry cured bacon is provided by Keswick Game and Fine Meats, who work closely with local farms. Our eggs are either from our own hens or from a nearby free-range farm.

We are pleased to cater for all diets including vegetarian or gluten free, wheat or dairy free.


Breakfasts at Jenkin Hill Cottage

A full English Breakfast is included in the B&B rate. Our breakfast usually includes the following:

Orange juice

Choice of cereals, muesli, prunes and grapefruit segments

Cumbrian platter - for example you may enjoy grilled bacon, Cumberland sausage, fried egg, grilled tomato, sauteed mushrooms, baked beans, fried bread or hash brown - or you can pre-order something lighter, if you wish, such as scrambled eggs on toast.
We always have gluten free Cumberland sausage available!
Cooked vegetarian breakfasts available as well, if required.

White or wholemeal toast with home made marmalade or preserves

All washed down with breakfast tea (or a herbal tea)
or fresh ground Colombian coffee.


Evening Meals

A carefully prepared set meal is available each night. Alternative dishes can be arranged for those with special dietary requirements.

Warm mushroom salad
Garden pea and mint soup
Peach with herb cream cheese and salad
- Served with home baked bread or wholemeal or white rolls with butter or sunflower margarine

~Main Courses~
Chicken breast baked with lemon & tarragon
Fresh Scottish salmon with dill butter
Pork fillet with sage and apple
- All served with a selection of seasonal vegetables

~Desserts~
Lakeland sticky toffee pudding
Crépes suzette
Deep filled apple pie

~Followed by~
Cheese & biscuits
Fresh ground coffee or select blend or speciality tea

Vegetarian & special diet meals are readily available
Included in the range are:
Buckwheat stuffed cabbage leaves
Nut cutlets with orange & hazelnut sauce
Mushrooms with cous cous & pine kernel stuffing
